The Norwegian Embassy, Mali to install UKSOL solar panels
/Gino Pelletier, CEO of Forex-Afrique, UKSOL’s new distributor in Mali, West Africa will be installing UKSOL solar PV modules on the Norwegian Embassy building in Bamako.
UKSOL panels will also be supplied for water adduction programmes funded by World Vision in Mali. These projects have been secured by Gino Pelletier, UKSOL’s new distributor for the region based in Bamako.
The UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) says Less than one percent of rural communes in Mali have electricity. Mali faces a severe energy access shortage, despite great improvements in recent years. Access to electricity has doubled in the last decade – but this still leaves only 25.6% of the country connected.
In rural areas this percentage drops down to only 11.9%, while just over half of the population (50.4%) is connected in urban areas, says Lighting Africa, a World Bank Group initiative.
